India '15: Peace & Chaos in The Motherland
My Grandparent's country is an obstacle course, a maze, the last level in Sonic The Hedgehog on 16 bit Sega- a grand challenge that pushed me to think outside the box and far beyond. It was real, it smacked me upside the head a few times but I was able to snap a mix of photos of the journey and capture some footage for a project in the basketball crazed community of Nagpada.
THE STREETS OF INDIA
Mix of photos from Agra, Varanasi, Lucknow and Goa.
PORTRAITS
Most locals were charged up take have their photo taken, which lead to huge collection of portraits. Here are a few of my favorites.
NAGPADA & HOOPS, MUMBAI
When I wasn't shooting footage, I tried to snap a few production stills at The Rucker Park of India. I was invited into the homes of the local hopefuls and got to spend time with the families off the court. Hands down, the best part of my trip was hanging out here and playing pick up ball in between shooting. Looking forward to my return.
Central European Time
Anytime I cross the Atlantic, I feel I was given the ulitmaite gift. The abundance of character and diversity all within a stones throw is overwhelming in the most inspiring way possible- I want to go shoot in as many cities as possible each trip.
BUDA-PEST, HUNGARY
Most of these shots are from the hilly Buda side of the city which offers that picturesque European imagery. I found myself hanging in hills more so than the lower bustling Pest but the food was great everywhere.
NOVI SAD/BAČKA PALANKA/ RUMENKA, SERBIA
My home away from home. Third visit to my favorite country where the warmth and generosity of the people is unrivialed. I dove deeper into the country side and checked out the fastest growing city in Serbia, Bačka Palanka, while spending time with friends in Novi Sad and the small village of Rumenka. I will probably have my wedding here. Please visit Serbia- a country I think about everyday.
LISBON, PORTUGAL
A city that is not conducive to sleeping but somehow you wake up fresh and do it all over again. A special thanks to Casa Independente for the hospitality and providing evenings that can't be replicated in an era of mass production and routine.
London '15
SOLIDARITY WITH REFUGEES RALLY
At the height of the Refugee Crisis in Europe, a march and rally was going down through the heart of London. I entered the fray and captured some of the action.
LONDON FIELDS/DALSTON/HACKNEY
Few shots on my walk to the flat after a game of pick-up ball at London Fields along with a couple flicks from the disposable cam I ran around Dalston with. To find another world that harkens back to my experiences and imagery of New York was refreshing and opened my eyes to the possibility of calling this home.
