I am missing moments like this the most.

If you got some time on your hands and a basketball jones, all 9 parts of True North are free via @onf_nfb YouTube.
I’m still very proud of this project we made and forever grateful for the families who allowed us to share their journey on screen.
After doing this project, the harsh truths learned about the structures surrounding the industry of basketball complicated my relationship with the game. Still sorting through these emotions.

DOWN WITH THE KING:
Tomorrow
This is a story of resiliency and community.
Let’s keep the well being of our neighbors, parents and strangers we don’t know at the forefront and give meaning back to the word community.

With all of the excitment and coverage of the Raptors winning, it’s important not to forget that the culture of basketball in this country was ignited and kept alive by a grassroots love for the game.
NBA players gave us hope but didn’t drive us to practice or stay late in gyms to keep the lights on. The Raptors win is the icing on the cake but its important to celebrate the long history of Mom’s brining us our shoes, Dad’s putting the ball in our crib, Coaches who cared, Ref’s making us feel like we are playing for real, Aunties running the score clock, Big Brothers letting us hoop with the big kids and Sports writers covering the game before it was a mandate. We should celebrate and share this first and foremost.
When you love your craft and the people you get to forge life long bonds with through the process of making a film, that is the real win.
Awards will never step to that feeling but if this is a reflection of that , I am okay with it.
Bringing this home for Toronto and everyone who touched this project in any way shape or form.
Raptors in 7.
It’s okay to channel your inner Slava Medvedenko and drop 20 10 and 5 once or twice a year.

I prefer to use social media to share my mediocre photos from places I have been and people I have met rather than call to actions. However, True North has been nominated for a Webby Award for Best Sports Video and I thought it would be fitting we recognize and honor the 5 Young Men/Leaders that shared their story on screen with us. I put the voting link in my bio and if you enjoyed the series or support The Toronto basketball community, we would apprecaite your love.

Cuba votes on a new constitution today but Charlie Chaplin still remains a constant.
